Membership in the IBP is compulsory for all lawyers in the country. The Philippine Supreme Court has required all lawyers to indicate their Roll of Attorneys Number in all papers and pleadings filed in judicial and quasi-judicial bodies in addition to the previously required current Professional Tax Receipt (PTR) and IBP Official Receipt or Life Member Number.

The Philippine Institute of Arbitrators (“PIArb”) is the first learned society in the Philippines dedicated to both promoting private dispute resolution within the country and pursuing initiatives to enable the country to serve as a viable and practical venue for private dispute resolution.

AIADR is established primarily for “Promoting Global Trade and Delivering Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution Forums” worldwide other than resolution by Courts, and the following: – Promoting commerce and industry; Promoting social cohesion amongst practitioners and non-practitioners in the Alternative Dispute Resolution (“ADR”) field; and Promoting education and research.
